Visiting Sledmere

Sledmere is a jewel nestling at the heart of a beautiful traditional English Country Estate

Visitors have been welcomed to Sledmere by the Sykes family for over 250 years. Situated in the centre of the Yorkshire Wolds, here is a place to eat, shop, walk, cycle or immerse yourself in the charms of stunning gardens, soak up the atmosphere of a much loved ‘stately’ home and explore the stables which are once again home to working horses.


Children's Activities

There are plenty of fun activities for our younger visitors to do at Sledmere including visiting the birds and animals in Hampton Paddock and playing on the new big play tractor.  In the Stables, children can see the ponies, 'spot the black cat' as they look round the buildings then read some books or draw their favourite pony in the Activity Room.  There is an adventure play area within the grounds of the House with picnic benches nearby, and in Sledmere House there is a quiz for children to do whilst looking round.  Children can keep up to date with what their favourite ponies and animals are up to throughout the year by signing up to our Stables e-newsletter or joining our 'Own a Pony' morning.

Christmas craft and food fair, deer, Father Christmas, East Yorkshire

Over 100 stalls selling crafts, gifts, decorations and food for the festive period. Sat & Sun only: Tractor and trailer trips to the Deer Park and children can visit Father Christmas in his magical Grotto. Special admissions for pre-booked groups of 15+ available.
