Things to Do

Rare Breed Conservation Farm Park

Our officially approved Rare Breed Survival Trust Conservation Farm Park, a fantastic place to meet and learn all about the preservation of our beautiful rare breed farm animals. With lots of space, and fresh air in the bucket loads, it’s the place to be for a day of family fun on the farm.

Here to greet you are a range of friendly faces, all of which love nothing more than to have lots of cuddles and affection.

All of our animals are currently on the Rare Breed Survival Trust Watch List for native breeds and one of the ways we support them is with our comprehensive breeding programs, this means you will often hear the pitter patter of tiny feet, trotters and hooves as the animals bring new life into the Farm Park and therefore help to secure their place in the world for future generations to enjoy.

The Sledmere Rare Breed Farm Park currently consists of:

• Our small flock of Leicester Longwool sheep producing charming little lambs in January and spring.

• A range of rare breed chickens who kindly provide Sledmere House with a constant supply of eggs.

• Our Oxford Sandy and Black pigs, Pippa and Gloria give us a litter of beautiful pedigree piglets twice a year.

• The Golden Guernsey goats, provide beautiful kids in the spring/summer and love nothing more than showing off on the seesaw or coming over for chin scratches.

There’s always something going on and lots of happy little faces ready to meet new friends.

At the far end of the Farm Park you can access the adventure play area where you can enjoy our range of woodland play equipment including a zip wire, climbing frames and basket swing.

Open Tuesday to Sunday (Closed Mondays except bank holidays) 10.00am - 5.00pm
