The Antique Market Today with Caroline Hawley
Wed 3rd October to Wed 3rd October  (11.00am - 1.00pm)
Caroline Hawley talks you through how she first became involved in the antiques trade from a very young age and takes you through her journey and the changes in the auction business through the years.

From a very young age Caroline became involved in the antique trade when she often went with her parents to auctions at the local village hall and quickly felt very at home in the saleroom.  After trying her hand at a few small antique fairs she was hooked and soon realized that this was the life for her! She opened her first shop at the age of 20 as well as continuing to buy and sell at big antique fairs across the country. For many years she taught antiques courses at adult education centres around East Yorkshire.  In 2002 she and her husband set up their own auction business in Beverley, holding four to five antique and fine art sales a year from the racecourse. She works regularly as an expert on various BBC antiques programmes including Bargain Hunt, Flog-It and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is! Valuation days, charity auctions and talks up and down the country keeps her busy the rest of the time! She writes a monthly antiques column for Woman's Weekly magazine and has recently started speaking on cruise ships, spreading the antique word from Southampton to Sydney!
