In 1911, Sledmere House was gutted by a disastrous fire; the family never hesitated over the decision to rebuild and, during the next five years, a restoration to equal any Country House in the 20th century was completed. To mark the centenary of the fire, we are staging a special exhibition which tells the story of the fire and how such a project was achieved.
