Mr James Lomax - A lecture on Thomas Chippendale
Wed 12th April to Wed 12th April  (11.00 am - 1.00pm)

Thomas Chippendale was born in Otley in 1718 and in due course became the most celebrated furniture maker in mid Georgian London. He was the first to publish a book of designs in the most fashionable styles of the day and this led to commissions to furnish great houses like Dumfries House, Nostell Priory, Burton Constable and Harewood. The lecture will illustrate the full range of his works from early Rococo, through chinoiserie and Gothic to neoclassical.
